c. Framing: Low pitch - frame where caught. High Pitch - catch and flex down with fist or wrist. Inside Pitch - catch with thumb up and peel in towards plate. Outside Pitch - catch with thumb down and peel in towards the plate.
C. 5 – 10 Minutes (Great Conditioning)
o Making strikes look more like strikes
o Thumb up on the inside pitch - this helps the umpire see exactly where the pitch was thrown.
o “Stick” the outside pitch
KEY POINTS
1.) Never frame a low pitch or pitch that is out of the strike zone.
2.) On pitches in the dirt - always work on blocking. Don't get lazy.
3.) Use your wrist to frame or peel in towards the plate. Don't use your entire arm.
