SHORT TOSS - 15 FEET
- 15 feet short toss has many advantages such as: quality pitches thrown at a certain location, high repetitions, and the ability to identify strengths and weaknesses as a hitter/coach.
- Short Toss - we recommend throwing underhand at various speeds at specific locations. This is very effective. Example: a softer thrown ball at the outside of the plate will help hitters identify off-speed and sit back to drive to the opposite field.
- The Swing - focus top half of the baseball and drive through the ball. Keep the ball on a line or on the ground. Pop ups should not happen. Drive to the center of the field.
- 20 quality repetitions and then switch with partner.
Coaches, take the time to demonstrate proper feeds. This is the most important skill in any hitting drill.
Variations
- Tosser may bounce a tennis ball through the strike zone. Follow the ball and drive on a line. Stay on top of the ball.
