#1 INFIELD DRILLS

These drills are desiged to be completed in sequence. Great warmup for daily infield work. Good Luck!
- Kneeling on both knees with glove out in front of your body. Fungo hitter or partner is hitting or throwing groundballs directly at your body. Field balls out if front of your body, using your hands to catch the baseball. To enhance this drill, the fielder may place his throwing hand behind his back. Field 20 repetitions and switch with partner.
- Stand up and complete 10 repetitions to the center of the body. Ground balls shoud be hit or thrown from approximately 90 feet. Work from your ready position and lead into proper footwork. Field all ball in the center of your body.
- Complete routine groundball work and complete throws to 1st base from your desired position. Focus on proper mechanics such as: ready position, glove action, footwork, and throwing skills.
KEY POINTS
- Work on routine balls. As a program, we need to get outs on routine groundballs. The web gem will happen with time.
- Ready position: glove out in front, feet should be shoulder width, and your weight should be on the balls of your feet.
- Circle the ball towards 1st base. Cut down the ground between yourself and first base.
- When possible field the ball in the center of your body. Knock it down, make a good throw, and record the out.
