Season Expectations

GAME  SCHEDULE

Legion cost is $325.  Reduced by $50 if you work a meat raffle.

Please print a copy of the game schedule.  Within your schedule, mark dates that you will miss for this summer.  In the top corner, list your name.

After schedules have been collected – they will be tallied to ensure we have proper numbers to competitively field a team.  If we have any issues, players will be notified at the end of May.  For instance, if all players decide to go on the same trip.  This will be discussed and resolved by changing the date of the game, etc.

PRACTICE SCHEDULE

All Legion players are expected to attend practices.  Practice times will be set in the best interest of all players and 90% of them have evolved into small group or 1:1 practice sessions.  This has worked very well and has accommodated our athletes the opportunity to attend other activities or programs.  Please note: individual and small group practice will be critical to our overall development.  Full team practice prior to our District tournament has been very important and players should make plans necessary to attend these events.

Open practice is just that - a time when players can come down to Dartt's Park and work together on developing their skills.  There will be times that we practice as a large group or smaller groups to focus on one area of play (bullpens, infield work, hitting, etc.). I'll be in touch with players throughout the summer.

  • Regarding team practice times.  Every summer, we do our best to avoid conflicts from other sports whenever possible and continue to support multi-sport athletes.  Supporting multi-sport athletes continues to be very important to us.
  • Pre-game workouts will continue to be vital to our summer program.  Be on time and attend.
  • Team practices as a large group will be critical prior to our District playoff weekend.
  • We will continue to utilize small group practices and 1:1's to improve as individuals and as a team.

PARENT HELP - VOLUNTEERS

We are looking for one parent rep that would be willing to assist us in a few areas:  concession stand, scoreboard, music operator, food coordinator for DH’s, travel assistance, etc.  It is expected that each set of parents can work at least one game in our concession stand this summer.  We plan on sending out a google document with signup responsibilities at the end of May.  If you are interested in becoming a parent rep, please send Coach Cummins an email at your earliest convenience.  Your help is greatly appreciated.

SUMMER EXPECTATIONS & GUIDELINES

  • Please do your best to attend the District Tournament in July.  This is our most important time of the summer.  Plan ahead with all work schedules for the Thursday and Friday of the playoff week.  There is a great chance that we play baseball during the day on Friday.  Plan accordingly.
  • Please communicate in advance with one of the coaches if you plan on missing a practice or game.  This becomes more important if it was not on your calendar that was turned in.
  • If you become sick, please notify a coach as soon as possible.
  • Three unexcused absences the player may be removed from the team.  This has never happened - players continue to be very committed and respectful to this program.
  • Inappropriate behavior at practice, while traveling, or preparing for a game, or during a game will not be tolerated and may result in dismissal from the team.
  • No participation in league softball games. If you are caught playing you will miss the next two games.
  • Family vacations should be addressed immediately at the beginning of the season.
  • Summer athletic camps should be addressed immediately at the beginning of the season.
  • Playing time will not be equal throughout the summer.
  • Show respect at all times for our service men and women, coaches, opponents, parents, fans, and game officials.
  • Avoid offensive gestures or language at all times.
  • Show respect for all property and equipment at all times.
