Excused Absences

Baseball should continue to be a priority in the summer months for the future development as a player and for our success as a program.  Unfortunately, MN provides a small window of time to develop and grow as a player - take advantage of the best time of the year.  We average approximately 6 weeks of game play in the spring, so the summer continues to be very important.  At the same time, we expect players to miss for other athletic opportunities and family obligations.  We are here to support your son.

Please print a calendar and mark down dates that you believe your son will miss during our summer season.  As a coaching staff, we will review calendars at the end of May and will communicate with our teams if there are issues with the availability of our players on a certain date.

SUMMER JOB(S)

  • Please work with your boss to set up your work schedule around the game schedule immediately.  You'll notice we are playing many of our games at 7:00 pm to accommodate players that are working.  Make sure that you ask for the Thursday and Friday off during our playoff week.
  • Practices will avoid work schedules.  1:1 time and small group practices will occur throughout the summer.

ATHLETIC CAMPS

  • Summer athletic camps should be addressed immediately at the beginning of the season.  Participation in camps is acceptable.
  • Please mark your calendar with games or practices that are impacted by an athletic camp.

VACATIONS

  • Family vacations should be addressed immediately at the beginning of the season.
  • Summer vacation is encouraged. The 4th of July week continues to be the best time if possible.  Every summer we try to respect this time of year.
  • Enjoy your summer vacation.

BASEBALL PRACTICE / OTHER

  • Every summer, we do our best to avoid conflicts from other sports whenever possible and continue to support multi-sport athletes.  Supporting multi-sport athletes continues to be very important to us.
  • Pre-game workouts will continue to be vital to our summer program.  Be on time and attend.
  • Team practices as a large group will be critical two days prior to our District playoff.  We will also practice a number of times as a large group early in the season prior (Late May).
  • We will continue to utilize small group practices and 1:1's to improve as individuals and as a team.
  • Players can always work on their own or with a partner throughout the week.
