The OWATONNA BASEBALL ACADEMY starts on Tuesday, June 13th at 10:00 AM.   This program has been developed for players in U11, U12, and U13.  This program has been included in your baseball registration fee. 

Each practice covers baseball fundamentals such as: base running, pitching, hitting, defensive strategies, team building, and leadership training. Daily attendance will be recorded and sent to the proper coaching staff throughout Minor League Baseball. All lessons will be written by Coach Cummins and instructed by OHS coaches, players, and special guests. We will be communicating with our head coaches at each team/level to discuss areas of improvement as well. 

Arm care will always be a top priority. We will communicate daily with each player to understand exactly when they last pitched and when their next outing is scheduled. We will also have light practice sessions on game days to conserve all energy and effort for the evening game.  Strategies implemented are driven to increase the level of play for all participants. The goal of the academy is to increase skill level, develop leadership skills, and simply – to create a fun baseball atmosphere in Owatonna.

Our first week’s emphasis will be on a few of our cornerstones within the program.  Throwing progression overview, throwing effectively around the horn, baserunning, pitching mechanics, and attacking the baseball offensively.  We will communicate directly with all coaches on areas to target for each team.  We understand that June is a very important month with the hopes of securing state bids.  We are here to help all teams and players get off to a successful start.     

Postponements due to weather will be posted on the Owatonna Huskies Bullpen Club website (www.owatonnabaseball.com).  This will be your number one place to find all information regarding delays, postponements, and cancellations.  There are times where a coach can’t immediately email, so this is the best form of communication for alerting parents.
